IKEA goes big on solar

By 3p Contributor

Ikea is set to become one of the largest users of commercial solar power in the US with the installation of rooftop solar generators, producing 4.29mw, at distribution centres in Maryland and New Jersey. The installation of 20 more solar energy systems, to add to the 17 the company already has in operation, will mean its solar power coverage will be extended to 89% of Ikea’s US locations. Once the latest programme is completed, the company will generate 38mw, enough electricity to power around 510 homes.
