More than 100 students have enrolled on a lecture programme started by
the non-governmental organization Japan for Sustainability.
The programme, which will be run for four years by Japan for Sustainability
with support from the Daiwa Securities Group, is aimed at raising
awareness so that younger people can take action that will promote
sustainability in society.
The lectures in the programme, known as the Daiwa-JS Youth
Sustainability College, cover the topic in a comprehensive and
integrated way and relate it to nature, economy, society and personal
well-being.
Specialists, including university professors, corporate executives,
businesspeople, government officials and members of non-profit
organizations and NGOs, will lecture on capacity, resources and
sustainability, inter-generational and inter-regional equity, diversity
and sustainability, and commitment, networking and sustainability.
Details of the lectures will be sent to 187 other countries so that
efforts in Japan to promote sustainability can be publicized elsewhere.
The programme is being financed by Daiwa Securities and Daiwa Asset
Management and the amount is determined by the net assets of an
investment trust named the Daiwa Eco Fund.
