Corporate sponsors of a celebrated long-distance sled-dog race in
Alaska are being targeted by campaigners who say the event is cruel to
the animals.
Alaska Airlines, Chevron, Coca-Cola, ExxonMobil, Panasonic and Wells
Fargo are among companies being bombarded with protest emails from
supporters of the Sled Dog Action Coalition, which claims dogs in the
annual 16-day Iditarod race habitually suffer death, paralysis, lung
damage, ruptured discs and pneumonia.
