Awareness of the United Nations Global Compact will be promoted among
companies in Sri Lanka through a collaboration with the Chartered
Institute of Management Accountants.
The two bodies will run events and training programmes about the
Compact’s corporate citizenship role. The institute’s Sri Lanka
operation will guide companies in applying the Compact’s ten principles
to their business practices, and special emphasis will be placed on
compliance with its annual reporting requirements.
Later, when the Compact has established a network in Sri Lanka, the
institute will run an annual rewards programme for responsible
corporate practices in the core areas of human rights, labour, the
environment and anti-corruption activity.
